Dorchester: a full rebuild of the front entry stairs on a two-family home
The old steps had been patched twice before we got there, and the patches were failing along with the concrete underneath. This was a replacement, not another repair. We removed the old set, formed and poured new steps and a landing across both entries, hand-finished the treads on site, and came back once the concrete had cured to install new black aluminum railings on both sides.

The askStop patching. Replace the front steps on a two-family so both units get a safe, solid entry that lasts.
What we didDemolished the old steps, formed and poured a new set with a shared landing, hand-finished the treads, then installed new aluminum railings after the cure.
Why it mattersA repaired repair is still the old steps underneath. On a shared entry with daily traffic and Boston winters, a proper rebuild is the one that stops costing money.
