November 1: Snow Routes Are Set. Here Is Exactly What Happens on a Storm Day

By RJ Gurumurthy, Founder of SR Enterprises · November 1, 2026

Our 2026-27 snow routes are built as of today. If you are on a seasonal plan, this is what a storm day looks like from our side, from the forecast on Tuesday to the last cleanup pass on Thursday.

Two days out: the forecast call

When a storm shows up in the forecast with a real accumulation number, we check the trucks, load salt, and text seasonal clients a heads-up with the expected start time. Commercial accounts get a pre-treatment visit if ice is in the forecast ahead of the snow.

Storm starts: the 2-inch trigger

At 2 inches on the ground, the route starts. The order is the same every storm: commercial lots that open early, then the residential loop street by street through Quincy, Braintree, Weymouth, and Dorchester. Per-storm calls that come in get added to the end of the loop.

During a long storm: the keep-open pass

If snow falls for more than a few hours, we run the loop once to keep driveways and lots passable, then run it again when the snow stops. Both passes are included on seasonal plans. You do not need to call us between them.

Storm ends: the cleanup pass

This is the pass that matters for the morning. Driveway, walkway, front steps, sidewalk, and cars cleaned off on Full Property plans. Walks and steps on the walkway plan. Lots, walks, and entries with salt on commercial accounts. We photograph commercial visits for the service log.

The day after: the plow ridge

City plows push a ridge of heavy snow across the bottom of every driveway after we have been through. On seasonal plans we come back for it. If the ridge shows up after the cleanup pass, text us and we will add you to the return loop.

What we need from you

  • Cars in the driveway, not on the street, so the city plow does not bury them and we can clear around them.
  • Stakes or a quick text if there is a landscaping edge or a curb we should know about.
  • A number we can text with the start time.
Not on a route yet?

Seasonal plans are still open for Quincy, Braintree, Weymouth, and Dorchester, but the service order is set in the order contracts come in.
